The French artist and activist
Mathieu Tremblin lives and works in Alsace, a region particularly affected by Coronavirus. For days he has left his apartment only for the most necessary purchases. For the opening of Art Will Save Us, he presents “Tremblin drinking a bottle of wine under Covid–19 confinement” a live streamed performance where he drinks a bottle of red wine on his own. The aim of the performance seems to be more about addressing the potential issues of daily drinking in the frame of physical or psychical isolation than chasing fitfteen minutes of fame - despite the fact that it's both a tribute to Andy Warhol eating a hamburger as part of 66 Scenes from America documentary (Jørgen Leth, 1982) and the re-enactment of the same performance, 2001, when he was still an art student.
